Presenting the Mission and Vision of AG Sri Lanka
OUR MISSION: “Go ye therefore and make disciples of all the nations”
The Assemblies of God of Ceylon exists to be a:
G. God glorifying
R. Revived and Spirit filled Movement,
E. Empowering and resourcing the whole body
A. Advancing Everywhere
T. Transforming nations
Yes, It is a GREAT Mission based on the GREAT Commission!
First, God glorifying
The whole purpose of our lives is summarized in Romans 11:36
“For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to God be glory forever. Amen.
God has intended that in all that we do, all Glory should go to Him.
Therefore, we must develop a Lifestyle, and Churches which has a Culture that Glorifies God.
Secondly, AG must be a ‘Revived and Spirit filled Movement’
The Church was born of the Holy Spirit and must be always be revived and filled with the Holy Spirit in everything it does. For Zech 3:9 says:
“Not by might, nor by Power, but by My Spirit Says the Lord”
Assemblies of God must be a Spirit Filled Movement carrying the ‘Revival Fire’ in the nation.
It means that every AG Believer must ‘filled with the Spirit’ manifesting the presence of the Holy Spirit. Our Churches must manifest Gifts of the Spirit and the Spirit of Revival in worship services.
Thirdly, Empowering and Resourcing the whole Body
AG believes in the Priesthood of every Believer. So there should be no Lay – Clergy gap in the Church.
The ministry of the Pastors is the Empower and Equip every Believer
to serve as Priests to God because: “you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation,
Our Mission seeks to empower “Everyone”.
Fourthly, ‘Advancing Everywhere’.
Jesus intended the Church to advance everywhere and not to be confined to a building.
Church must be where the People are!
Every AG Church must advance Geographically as the “the Light of the World” to every location through Evangelism, Cell groups and Church Planting.
Secondly Advance Socially, and as the “the Salt of the Earth” must penetrate every aspect, touching the “Seven Mountains of Influence”.
“The Meeting Place (Church) is the Training Place (Discipleship) for the Marketplace.”
Finally, Transforming Nations
It is said about the Early Church that: These who have “Turned the world upside down” have come here also!”
They brought Transformation!
All what we do ‘inside’ the church must eventually have impact ‘outside’ the Church to bring national transformation. We must influence the 7 Mountains of Government, Education, Business, Media, Religion, family and Arts.
Conclusion:
We want every AG believer and Church to understand this Mission and be committed to it.
